​The game's story is centered on a military special operations unit sent into a fictional Latin American country, Isla Trueno, to assist a rebel faction in overthrowing a military dictator. The player primarily takes on the role of an elite sniper, Sgt. Tyler Wells, also known as "Razor Six-Four," but also plays as a Delta Force operative, Private Cole Anderson, in some missions that involve more direct combat.  

​The core gameplay focuses on realistic sniping mechanics, where factors like wind direction, bullet drop, your character's breathing, and even heart rate affect the accuracy of your shot. The game features a "bullet time" camera that follows a perfectly-aimed shot to its target, a highly satisfying feature for players. While the main focus is on stealth and long-range assassinations, the game also includes sections with close-quarters combat and more traditional run-and-gun gameplay.
